We’re doing a small experiment this year. We’ve never grown bok choi before but we started eating it last year. Great on salads but I’d like to find recipes where we can cook with them as well.
When it’s warmer we’ll direct seed but for now here is our first transplanting. 🙂
This is on my list to try this year too!
Just love those first seedlings of the season. 🙂
I hope it works! :). They are so tasty when fresh.
Can I ask how you prepared yours for a salad? I’ve only ever cooked it once and was horrible disappointed in it as mine turned out soppy. Really didn’t like the texture. Yet, it always looks so good in the stores.
Just chopped it up as part of the greens. I may try a bit of grilling. Have no idea how that would work though.
This veggie is only good for direct sow. Be patient, fellow gardeners! Stir-fry with crushed garlic in hot oil is always nice. You can add them chopped with your noodles or soup, too.
Yeah, it may be though so far it looks ok, fingers crossed. I need to get a rectangle planter so I can just sow it and leave it. But we’ll see what happens here.
Good luck and have fun!
What a wonderful sight — brave seedlings! I have to grow my own bok choy because I can’t find it in the shops. For me, the challenge was finding a variety that suited our climate, but now that I’ve managed that, they are pretty easy going residents.
We found them at the farmers market last summer and they mentioned how easy they were to grow so we’re trying it. 🙂
